Beverley Puppet Festival returned in 2024 for our 11th edition. 38 puppet companies from around the UK, Canada and Italy descended on Beverley across 12th-14th July 2024 for a colourful weekend of puppetry and outdoor arts.

Flying ships, an inflatable octopus and a giant roaming elk delighted audiences in their thousands on the streets of the town and at the Flemingate Centre. Magical hidden worlds were revealed to visitors in the Beverley Friary Gardens once again with suitcase theatre, marionettes and a theatre-for-ones. Beverley's indoor venues were packed with shows for adults, teens, kids and families. We battled the rain with this edition but managed to avoid any cancellations of performances!

2024 saw the return of the Puppet Trail, which featured puppets in 16 windows of independent businesses across Beverley's shopping streets. Trail puppets were made by over 100 local school children and community groups. We also ran 3 engagement projects with this festival edition which included taking work into day centres for adults with learning disabilities, schools, and providing free puppet making workshops for children throughout the festival weekend.

Check out this feature in the Yorkshire Post and on the BBC of the 2024 festival.
