Puppets in Beverley Ltd. is looking for a highly motivated and experienced ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR to help us deliver the 10th edition of Beverley Puppet Festival between March - July 2022. 

 

Beverley Puppet Festival has become a firm fixture in the East Yorkshire events calendar and is a key event for puppeteers nationally and internationally. The public event will span 15th - 17th July 2022 and will include a programme of indoor and outdoor theatre performances for adults, children and families, workshops, networking events and community engagement sessions. The festival is made possible through funders such as Arts Council England and is run by non for profit organisation Puppets in Beverley Ltd.

Engagement Coordinator - Job Description

Project: Beverley Puppet Festival 2022


Freelance employment period: March 2022 - July 2022 (8 days within this period)

 

Public festival dates: 15th - 17th July 2022 in Beverley, East Yorkshire

​

Dates:

  • 2 days per month from March 2022 - April 2022 (4 days)

  • 1 day per month from May 2022 - June 2022 (2 days)

  • 2 days in the first half of July 2022 (2 days)

These days may be distributed slightly differently according to the needs of the project. 

Please note that the Engagement Coordinator is not required to attend the festival between 15th - 17th July 2022. 

​

Location: Most of the preparation work can be done remotely but proximity to East Yorkshire is preferred (although not essential).
 

Fee: £1,000 (8 days @ £125 per day)

​

Key roles: Liaison between artists and community partners, collecting feedback and documentation

​

Deadline: Sunday 20th February 2022, midnight

​

The Engagement Coordinator will be supported by the Co-Artistic Directors to fulfil their role but our small team requires everyone to use initiative and take ownership of their responsibilities for the festival to be a success.

​

We are running a series of Engagement Projects in the run up to the public festival during July 2022. These Engagement Projects will be partnerships between programmed artists and local community groups to explore puppetry. 

​

ENGAGEMENT PROJECT COORDINATION
Puppets in Beverley Ltd. has a longstanding history of running Engagement Projects in Beverley and the surrounding area. We are passionate about introducing puppetry into all areas of our local community and reaching people from different backgrounds.
   

  • Liaising with programmed engagement artists to understand their creative objectives and ensure they are equipped with what they need for delivery 

  • Getting in touch with prospective partner community groups to get participants involved in the project

  • Liaising with partner community groups to understand their needs and communicating all information for participation in the project

  • Brokering relationships between the engagement artists and participating community groups to ensure smooth delivery

  • Leading the collection of feedback and documentation from artists and community groups for evaluation purposes

  • Seeking any photography permissions needed from participants for our videographer and photographer

  • Ensuring that all programmed artists are DBS checked and are briefed on our safeguarding policy before delivery

  • We are passionate about ensuring our artists and participants have a positive and fulfilling experience whilst engaging in our activities. The Engagement Coordinator needs to be positive, approachable, organised and have good people management skills.

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS 

  • Experience working within the arts / events / charity sector

  • Experience working within community arts settings

  • Good organisation and people management skills

  • A knowledge of safeguarding  

  • A ‘can do’ attitude 

  • A knowledge of the East Yorkshire region
