CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19. El Cuento de la Amistad is a story of slavery, friendship and freedom. Cath March and Gary Stewart share the story of the famous Mende slave rebellion in 1840 on board the Spanish slave ship La Amistad, using shadow puppets, cardboard rod puppets and call-and response songs with multi-lingual audience participation. Come and meet Sengbe Pieh, hero leader of the rebellion, and the courageous girlchild Peyee-ena, Overcome Kassla, Mende monster of the deep sea, and make the journey from jail in the USA back to Sierra Leone. Suitable for all ages and featuring songs in Spanish, Mende, English and Jamaican patois – come and join in!
